We know this as customers - being sold to comes with a sense of annoyance and at times, an invasion of privacy. The seller is getting into your space and pushing something to you. You may like what he is selling, but the entire experience lacks finesse. This goes the same as brand communicators / marketers / copywriters - pick up the art of warming your audience up so that they make the choice of buying from you rather than feel that they are being sold to.
Calculate the impact of the copy / words that you are about to employ. Sometimes a few choice ones hit home harder than chunks of text. Invite the customer in. Make them interested. Once they are, the likelihood of a positive response to your message goes up by a great deal.
